Entdecker-Tour Adenau | Auf den Spuren der Mühlen (Adenau-Schuld-Adenau)
Adenau
The route starts from the industrial area "Am alten Wehr" in Adenau on the flat cycle path in the direction of Leimbach. Alternatively, you can start at the historic market square in Adenau, where, after a short climb, you cycle through a small shady wood and then downhill on the cycle path towards Leimbach, passing the Leimbacher Mühle mill, where you can still buy regional produce today.
You cycle leisurely along the edge of the forest through the villages of Niederadenau and Dümpelfeld, past paddocks with horses grazing happily. In Dümpelfeld, the Eifel Volcano Cycle Route meets the Ahr Cycle Route.
After crossing the historic Ahr bridge, continue left to Insul/Schuld. How about a detour to the Hahnenstein mill? Here you can find out how water is turned into electricity. The route continues past colorful meadows and glowing fields to Insul. Want to cool off? Then take a quick turn to the Prümer Tor natural monument and dip your feet in the Ahr. Or would you prefer a break directly on the Ahr cycle path? Then a stop at the Goldloch is just the thing and you can also learn a lot about mining and the "gold of the Eifel". Have you ever observed a bee colony up close and marveled at the size of the queen bee? A small showcase with a vivid description of the processes in the life of a busy bee colony provides young explorers with exciting insights.
The next highlight is the old railroad tunnel in the direction of Schuld. The route ends at the old oil mill. Once in Schuld, just like in Insul, restaurants serving regional products invite you to linger. From Schuld, you return to the starting point in Adenau.
