AhrSchleife Auf Wolfsgraben

The hike leads to a former court site from the Middle Ages: the so-called "Hexentanzplatz" at the Silvesterhütte near Pützfeld.

AhrSchleife "Auf Wolfsgraben" - legendary paths and fabulous views
The witches' dance floor "Auf Wolfsgraben" above Pützfeld offers a sweeping view over the Ahr and Auschbach valleys to Kreuzberg Castle. This place was once the scene of medieval trials, shrouded in dark legends. In Pützfeld, the trail climbs gently past pretty half-timbered houses and orchards, along idyllic forest paths to the Silvesterhütte. An impressive ridge walk over the Mühlenberg follows via a winding rocky path before the descent leads back to the train station in Ahrbrück.

The starting point of the hike is the train station in Ahrbrück. After crossing the B257, the trail initially follows the footpath for 600 meters parallel to the road to the entrance to Pützfeld, Steinerbergstraße.

In Pützfeld, the trail first leads along Steinerbergstraße through the historic town center with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses and the old bakery. At the end of the village, follow the path to the left, which initially leads past orchards and then climbs gently uphill in two hairpin bends. The idyllic forest paths repeatedly open up wide views of the valley, the Pützfeld chapel and Kreuzberg Castle. Keep right at the next fork and follow the path to the Silvesterhütte. On the forecourt of the hut, the so-called "Hexentanzplatz", an information board and a memorial stone commemorate the former medieval place of justice. A ridge hike over the Mühlenberg follows along a winding rocky path with impressive views of the Ahr valley, Hönningen and the hilltop village of Reifferscheid. The descent to St. Catherine's Chapel in Ahrbrück is via a narrow, steep path. The starting point at Ahrbrück railroad station is reached after 300 meters.

Variant for young families - suitable for baby carriages:
After arriving at the Silvesterhütte, this variant of the tour leads directly downhill via the "Wolfsgraben" access path back to Pützfeld and on to the train station in Ahrbück.
